Tocsin
A site-wide alert bar for closures, boil-water notices and weather - each with a start and an end - with the National Weather Service's active alerts for your zones pulled in.
For towns, counties, school districts and utilities.
The bar is printed on wp_body_open, which every current default theme calls.

Inside Tocsin
Notices
title, message, kind, how serious, start, end, a link and what people should do.
The door
Publish refuses, naming every reason, until the notice has an end within 30 days, link words that say where it goes, and - for a boil-water notice - what to do. A live notice saved into a problem comes down and says so.
On its own
a notice goes up at its start and comes down at its end.
The Weather Service
your zone and county codes and a contact email; only actual alerts at or above your threshold are shown - tests, cancels and ones already over are dropped. Fetched at most every five minutes from api.weather.gov (free, no key).
Accessible
every item says its severity in words, not only by colour; an emergency or warning makes the bar an alert region for screen readers.
More
[tocsin_alerts] lists every alert on a page of its own; the bar shows three and links there.
Before you start
More for government & schools

Daylight
A public records request portal inside your own site: tracking numbers, your state's response clock, extensions with reasons, denials with exemptions, and a public log that never names who asked.

Docketline
Meeting agendas, packets and minutes posted as accessible web pages, not only PDFs - and no meeting published until everything on it can be read by a screen reader.

Evenhand
The Title IX notice your website must show - coordinator contact details and the nondiscrimination statement - checked against 34 CFR 106.8 before it is published, with history and reminders.
