Almoner

A light donation form for small nonprofits and churches: one-time and monthly gifts through PayPal, receipts, year-end statements. Brings your gifts over from Seamless Donations.

Seamless Donations is sunset: its author no longer updates or supports it, and it has not been tested with the last three major versions of WordPress. Almoner is a replacement that reads Seamless's donation records straight out of your database - Seamless does not need to be switched on - and keeps your giving history in one place.

What it does

Inside Almoner

One form, one shortcode - suggested amounts or any amount, a monthly option, a choice of fund, and an optional gift in honor or memory of someone.

PayPal, the same road Seamless used - the donor pays on PayPal's own page with a card or a PayPal account. Your site never sees a card number and needs no API keys.

Receipts that do their job - sent by email the moment PayPal confirms the payment, with the date, the amount, your tax ID and the line the IRS asks for: "No goods or services were provided in exchange for this contribution."

Monthly gifts - each month's payment is recorded and receipted on its own.

Year-end giving statements - every donor's gifts for the year, refunds left out, emailed in one press.

A spreadsheet of every gift - CSV for your bookkeeper.

Questions

Asked first

Does it take cards on my site?

No. The donor pays on PayPal's page. That is deliberate: a small organization should never hold card numbers.

What happens to Seamless Donations' records?

Nothing. They are read, copied into Almoner, and left exactly where they were. Running the move twice does not double anything. Any donation with no amount or no real date is named on the move screen and left behind rather than guessed at.

What happens if I delete Almoner?

Its settings go. The gifts stay in your database: they are your giving record.
